Wiregrass student, Hannah Hadley, was one of the featured speakers at the 30th 2024 Dinah Culbreath Wayne State EAGLE and Adult Education Teacher of the Year Week in Atlanta recently. Hadley was the 2020 Wiregrass EAGLE (Adult Education Student of the Year) Winner and named the State 2020 EAGLE Winner. Hannah is enrolled in Wiregrass as an Associate of Applied Science in Business Management. Wiregrass is proud of her journey and loves watching her blossom! #WiregrassTech #EAGLE #TCSG

Wiregrass's Marketing and PR team was recognized again with a national marketing award for 2023. The college was one of two nationwide colleges to receive a bronze award for the Social Media Marketing Series. The College Collegiate Advertising Program is an elite program that recognizes higher education organizations for excellence in their schools' communications, marketing, advertising, and promotions. Wiregrass celebrated a "Topping Off" Ceremony for the new Commercial Truck Driving and Diesel Technology Facility in Douglas. President DeAnnia Clements welcomed the crowd. Also speaking was TCSG Greg Dozier, Chairman Wiregrass Foundation North Wyndall Walters, Co-Owner/Corporate Sales Manager at Lasseter Tractor Company John Hayes, Georgia State House of Representatives Clay Pirkle, and Field Representative for Congressman Austin Scott's office Charles White. The new facility should be ready for classes later this year. This week the college hosted Advisory Committee meetings on the Coffee Campus for Ben Hill-Irwin and Coffee Campuses. The following day the Valdosta Campus hosted its Advisory Committees. The Aircraft Assembly Technician 1 program is taking off this Summer Semester on the Coffee Campus! The Aviation Maintenance Technology Program Coordinator is Scotty Phillips. He brings more than 30 years of experience. This program is a technical certificate of credit and can be completed in two semesters. This program started at the college in January 2024 and opened to Dual Enrollment students.The Technical Certificate of Credit includes learning how to inspect aircraft structural and sheet metal repair. With this certificate, successful graduates can find jobs at Gulf Stream, Delta, and many aircraft companies. Congratulations to Practical Nursing student, Demeria Bryant who the Coffee Regional Medical Center Auxiliary Committee awarded a $1,000 scholarship. She submitted an essay themed "Why I want to be in Healthcare." She dedicated her essay to her mom, whom she lost in February, and her PN instructor Deidra Floyd (standing far left). Wiregrass Tech's Economic Development team has partnered again with the Valdosta-Lowndes County Development Authority for a 3rd Wired For Workforce Program! During the five-day course, 14 seniors from Valdosta and Lowndes high schools honed their technical skills, received forklift safety training, and earned OSHA 10-hour General Industry Certification. New to this year's program was providing students with experience on a mobile aerial work platform, a crucial skill for industries in the Valdosta area. Michael Williams, vice president for Economic Development at Wiregrass Tech, emphasized that safety and forklift training are essential employability skills. "Employers are impressed that the students want to participate in the program. It shows a willingness to learn and a heartfelt desire to participate in manufacturing.” #WiredForWorkforce #WiregrassPartnerships #WorkforceDevelopment
