If you’ve been following along on B-Inspired Mama for any length of time, you might have figured out by now that I’m a semi-homemade kind of mama.If there’s a shortcut to make it easier for me to be creative with my kids, I’m going to use it. And I’m going to share it with you!

And what better mama shortcut than a semi-homemade meal or dessert using frozen ingredients right out of the freezer to save time, right? Can you figure out what I used out of my freezer to make this cute Christmas cake recipe so easy my kids could make it?! Let’s check it out and see…

Jump to the Full Printable Recipe! This is SO semi-homemade I almost don’t even want to call it a “recipe”. I mean, there’s no baking involved. The secret… A Sara Lee Butter Pound Cake right out of the freezer!

We already know it’s delicious. No need to worry about messing it up or getting distracted by the kids and burning a cake.

Just pull it out of the freezer and let it thaw about 10 minutes (not entirely thawed because it’s easier to cut and maneuver into our Christmas tree shaped if still a little bit frozen), and you’re ready to make a Christmas Tree Shaped Christmas Cake the kids will be in awe over!

Christmas Tree Shaped Christmas Cake Recipe

A semi-homemade Christmas tree-shaped Christmas cake recipe so easy the kids can make it themselves! It'll become their new favorite holiday tradition!

Instructions

  • Allow the frozen 1 (16 ounce) pound cake to thaw at room temperature for 15 minutes.

  • Cut the cake diagonally from one corner to the other to create 2 triangles.

  • Arrange triangle cake pieces on a platter with straight sides together to form one large triangle like a Christmas tree.

  • Use 1 (8 ounce) pouch green decorating icing and whipped cream to decorate the Christmas tree cake with alternating stripes to look like garland.

  • Let the kids decorate the Christmas tree cake with M&M'S Milk Chocolate Candy and holiday jelly candy to look like ornaments.
