Edward was a good friend of mine when we attended Nutana High School. Our paths did not cross often in later years. I was very impressed with the thought he expressed in his letters to the editor.
My condolences to his family.

My condolences to Ed’s family, friends and co-workers. I worked with Ed for several years at Sutherland School where we both taught kindergarten. He was always helpful and offered his advice to me as a beginning teacher. I have vivid memories of Ed walking his class backwards to assemblies and dressing up as Donald Duck for Halloween. He was a loyal employee and very dedicated to his students. There are many students who have good memories of Mr. Erickson.

My condolences on the passing of Mr. Erickson. He was a wonderful teacher! I had the privilege of being in his kindergarten class of 2000/2001. He was by far the most memorable teacher I ever had. He will always be remembered in all of us!
Again, my condolences. I hope you find some peace and comfort during this time!

I am so sorry to hear that Ed has passed on. I only recently ended up in pre-op at the same time as Ed and we had a lovely visit. Ed was teaching colleague and a wonderful kindergarten teacher who was absolutely devoted to those little people. Ed was a lovely man and I will miss seeing him and having those little visits. Vichnaya pamyat.

Ed was my kindergarten teacher back in 1990/1991. I was glad to have been able to attend the service today. I have so many memories of being in his class. From the loads of scratch and sniff stickers, the baby chicks we got to see hatch to how he would implement Danny and Tara in his teaching and him chasing kids around in the playground. I even remember him driving his bike around the neighbour hood and stopping to chat as he drove through. I have saved certain things I made or received in his class including the welcome to kindergarten letter he sent out with a polaroid of Him, Danny and Tara. It was so evident that he loved his job and the impact he had on his students lives. Thanks Ed... for being a positive influence in my life. You will be missed.Read moreRead less

From your engaging and memorable kindergarten classes with the puppets Danny and Tara, hatching baby chick's, and all the songs. To teaching me ventroloquism years later. To all of the cards and remembrance of birthdays and christmases. From seeing you out and about at events and resturants with your brother and sister ... you will be sorely missed and your gap in the world will be carried forward as a mantle by all of the loves you have touched.

Mr. Erickson was my teacher in 1994-1995. I remember being in awe at his ventriloquist abilities whenever Danny came out of his suitcase and once in a while Tara. I also remember hatching the chicks in the incubator. We also lived in the same neighbourhood so I would often see him outside of school cycling or driving his light blue minivan. For several years after kindergarten he would still mail me birthday cards. I reunited with him many times at SaskTel Centre events. You are appreciated and will be missed!

Mr. Erickson was my kindergarten teacher. I will never forget his puppets, Danny and Tara, the baby chicks that hatched, or the amazing songs he sang. He is the reason I became a teacher. He was our grade 8 farewell guest of honour, because we all loved him so much. He truly made a difference in so many lives.

Plant a tree: How does it work
When your purchase is complete, a post will be made on the tribute wall of the deceased signifying the planting of a memorial tree.
An official certificate recognizing your purchase will be included with your email receipt. You can then forward the email to the family or print it and give it to them personally.
After an order is placed, our forestry partners will plant the tree in the area of greatest need (nearest the funeral home), according to the planting schedule for the year.
Due to seasonal conditions, the tree planting takes place during the spring and summer.
Tree Planting Timeline
Orders placed in:
January - May
Planting will take place in Sprint or Summer of the same year.
June - December
Planting will take place in Spring of the following year.
