WESH 2 NEWS DAVE MCDANIEL LOOKS AT WHAT YOU SHOULD CONSIDER DOING TO MAKE SURE THE RAIN WE’RE ABOUT TO GET DOESN’T CAUSE ANY ISSUES. DROUGHT MEANS LAKES, RIVERS, STREAMS, AND PONDS ARE ALL LOWER THAN NORMAL. THERE’S PLENTY OF STORAGE FOR THE RAIN. WE EXPECT, PROVIDING THE WATER CAN GET FROM WHERE IT FALLS TO THOSE BASINS. IF YOU HAVE ANY AREAS THAT ARE NORMALLY WHAT YOU GOT, WATER POOLING OR HIGH LEVEL OF WATER DRAINAGE, CHECK THOSE. MAKE SURE THEY’RE NOT OBSTRUCTED. CULVERTS AND STORM DRAINS. IF YOU HAVEN’T CHECKED THEM OUT LATELY TO MAKE SURE THEY’RE OPEN AND READY TO ACCEPT RAINFALL, NOW’S THE TIME THOUGH. WE DO NEED THE RAIN. IT’S JUST THE VOLUME OF RAIN AND HOW QUICKLY IT COMES THAT THAT CAN BE THE ISSUE. WE’VE SHOWN THE IMPORTANCE OF CLEANING THOSE GUTTERS TO MAKE SURE THEY WORK LIKE THEY’RE DESIGNED. GUTTERS ARE BIG FOR PROTECTING YOUR HOME, NOT ONLY TO MAKE SURE WATER CAN FLOW EFFECTIVELY AWAY FROM YOUR HOME AND ITS FOUNDATION, BECAUSE IF THEY OVERFLOW, THEY CAN TEND TO CAUSE ISSUES WITH YOUR ROOF SIDE PANELING, WATER INTRUSION. JUST MAKE SURE THAT YOU HAVE PROPER FLOW IN YOUR GUTTERS. THEY’RE CLEANED OUT.
