I found something I need at US Audio Mart. Is that a good place to purchase equipment? Any guarantees? Thank You! Bill

This is a place where you can find prices below eBay or Audiogon. I do not think it offers any guarantees, and in that regard similar to Craigslist. If you pay via Paypal, that can offer some assurance that deal will go through properly. But there is always a risk. Make sure you follow all communication rules of Paypal if you need their service. I also always try to speak to person I deal with over the phone.

Never bought anything from that site, but I have tried to sell there. Lots of "tire kickers" just like craigslist. I no longer use it.

I have done many sales and buys and never had a problem anywhere actually...including US and Canuck Audiomarts.

I like to make sure the person I buy from there has a few positive feedback...preferably 100 percent

Worked just fine for me on two occasions. It's as good as the person you're dealing with on the other end.

Bought some Mullard tubes and a phono cartridge without incident. Just check feedback and use PayPal only.

Hey
Pretty much the same here. I've bought from Canada and US audiomart 3 or 4 times. All went through with no problem. Knock wood. Eric

Unless you're buying new or through a dealer that sells used with a warranty any used sale has its risks. Chances are you'll get a better deal than ebay because there are no (or lower fees). As everyone else said already unless you're auditioning (testing) in person, definitely use Paypal and follow paypal rules (probably not a bad idea to do even in person). Anything used or shipped is exposed to risks (really doesn't matter who or where you buy).
All that being said, ive had good luck so far.

Guarantees (if any) are up to the seller to provide for.
Never had an issue with the site, all positive experiences.

Canuck and US Audio Mart are very legitimate. No stealing pictures and posting them in a for sale ad. You have to post at least 2 pictures of the actual items for sale. They monitor that. Very strict. They're good sites for buying and selling.

Browsing it last night, the prices were chill and I recognized a couple of AK'er handles. That's confidence inspiring.

As with any transaction there are no guarantees. Actually Ebay has more safeguards in place for the buyer than US Audio Mart. The only protections you have are what Paypal allows you, provided you pay their fee. Now with USAudio Mart you are dealing with a higher percentage of hobbyists, and it is possible to get a better price on an item than through other venues. You also have a wider degree of choice in many cases. You can find some unusual or highly desirable components there. But you are dealing with regular people, so it is possible to run into dishonest ones. You just have to do your homework, have a conservation with the seller, pay with Paypal, and realize that there is no guarantee you could indeed get a bad transaction.
With that said, all of mine have been good. My last purchase there was for a pair $23K speakers that I paid $7.25K for. The seller was great, the speakers were in perfect shape, and shipping went smoothly. But I paid about $300 in Paypal fees for peace of mind, and an avenue of protection if I misjudged the seller.

I've sold more than I've bought (CAM) and for the time being, integrity levels are high. Did make one purchase on USAM and it was a fabulous transaction. Great deal, packed well and totally as described.
For my few CAM sales, I have positive feedback for packing. I suspect that most sellers on C/USAM take greater care with that than one might experience on other sites.
