Inside Little Oral Annie – Movie Review:

This Joseph W. Sarno directorial effort from 1984 is, if the hyperbole on the packaging of the older DVD edition is to be believed, Video-X-Pix's best selling title of all time. While Little Oral Annie, born Andrea Parducci, may not be the household name of vintage smut that Linda Lovelace was, her sword swallowing skills are beyond reproach, and her nickname well earned. A lithe and well endowed brunette with an admirable physique and a pretty face, Annie says it best herself when the film begins – “I love sucking dick!” Judging by the enthusiasm she shows in this film, she wasn't lying. While Annie got her start, like many of her contemporaries, in the now legendary Swedish Erotica series of 8mm loops that were sold out of men's magazines and out of smut shops across the land, she soon rose to prominence and became one of the most popular XXX actresses of her generation. As her star started to slowly fade, she wound up working in bondage and fetish pictures before retiring from the adult film industry in 1989 at the ripe old age of twenty-nine years old.

Inside Little Oral Annie is one of the buxom performer's better and best known pictures, and for good reason as it holds up well a quarter century after it was made. The picture starts off with a rad close up of Annie doing her thing on some lucky faceless dude while the opening credits scroll over top of the action. She eats his wad and then talks to the camera about how much she loves a good co*ck in her mouth - and we're off! She also tells us that all of her friends call her ‘Little Oral Annie’ but no one in the movie actually refers to her that way.

Regardless, from there, we wander through a few sequences in which Annie struts her stuff and shows us how she earned her nickname. After walking through an early 80s-era Times Square, she hits a bar where she meets up with Klaus Multia and Carol Cross. She introduces herself to the couple and they head upstairs where there's a conveniently located bedroom (complete with hardcore photos hanging on the walls, an industrial strength ladder leaning in the corner and a few cases of Budweiser stacked up in sight!) right above the bar! The girls work together to get Klaus naked and then proceed to undress one another and bust into a three-way in which Carol rides him and Annie uses her particular set of skills. Annie and Carol trade places before Carol gets down on all fours for the big finish.

Annie wanders Manhattan again before we cut to her sucking another faceless dude and talking to us about how much she loves to go down. This segues into an office scene where Taija Rae sits behind a desk. George Payne, Avon's trademark psycho sex star, walks into the room and Taija, who is Payne’s boss, gets things started. He bends her over the desk and goes at it, but then Annie walks in on them and decides she wants in on this. She and Taija get into a sixty-nine and George decide to use the back door that Annie has so kindly offered him.

Annie walks through Manhattan again before we cut to her back inside still showing off how she earned her name. This leads into a scene where she and Anne Cummings are hanging out in an office. They head to the stairwell and enjoy some quality time together before moving down into a bedroom. They strip and fool around before busting out a double-sided. Johnny Nineteen walks in on the two ladies, he’s Anne’s boyfriend, and the ladies show him how grateful they are for his interruption.

Cut to Annie back on the street, then back to her and another mystery dong which at this point is way down in her throat (pretty impressive!). From here we cut back to an apartment bedroom where Annie is fooling around with Cara Lott. They got at it for a bit and then Johnny Nineteen comes back into the room. The groping continues an d then there's a knock at the door. It's Bobby Astyr, who states in a thick New Yawk accent that he's here not to see Annie but to see “anyone I can get my little dirty paws on.” Annie's in the other room picking up where Cara left off and the couples go at it. Then there’s another knock at the door - it's Klaus Multia! Klaus helps himself to what Cara has to offer, while Bobby moves into the other room to spend some quality time with Annie for a bit. We get one last bit with Annie, who provides some welcome dirty talk to finish off the movie before fading to black and warning us to stay stiff and ready in case she shows up in our town! There are no end credits.

Just like Deep Inside Annie Sprinkle, this film is a fun mix of a personality piece and a traditional hardcore sex film. With Oral Annie starring in every single one of the scenes it's obvious that the producers were intent on cashing in on her star power, rightfully touting her as Linda Lovelace's successor. It works, and it works well. Annie carries the film pretty effortlessly and looks great doing it. She shows off her zest for oral throughout the film and also demonstrates that she's got skills in other areas as well, taking on man and women alike with equal fervor. This gives us a nice mixture, a solid variety of sex to enjoy. Add to that the fact that the film is very nicely shot (some of the oral close ups are amazing) and that it features a good score and some cool early eighties NYC footage and you've got a solid classic that's both erotic and entertaining.

Inside Little Oral Annie – Blu-ray Review:

The Inside Little Oral Annie arrives on a 50GB region free Blu-ray in an AVC encoded 1080p high definition transfer framed at 1.85.1, newly scanned and restored in 2k from its original 35mm negative. There are a few shots that look softer than others, almost certainly due to how the movie was lit and shot, but overall this is a really strong transfer. Detail is very good here, leaving the older DVD in the dust in that department, and color reproduction looks perfect. Skin tones are always nice and natural and black levels are deep and strong. There are no problems with any compression issues and there are no problems with any noticeable noise reduction or edge enhancement. There’s no print damage to note, you’ll be hard pressed to find even a single speck or scratch, and the image is pristine. Natural film grain is preserved and, truly, there’s nothing to complain about here at all, the transfer is excellent.

The English language 24-bit DTS-HD 2.0 Mono track is solid. Optional subtitles are provided in English only. No problems to note here, the audio is clean, clear and nicely balanced with some decent depth given to the score, which is oddly intense at times, and perfectly audible dialogue. Hiss and distortion are never problematic and this sounds quite good.

The biggest extra on the disc is the inclusion of Little Oral Annie Takes Manhattan, a sequel from 1985 once again directed by Sarno. Despite Annie telling us she might be coming to our town at the end of the first movie, she's back in New York City again, which this second film more or less following the same format as the original.

After she takes a stroll through the city, she meets up with a few friends - Carol Cross, Danielle and Michael Knight, for a group sex session that takes up quite a good chunk of the movie's running time. From here, she has a three-way with Joe Santini and Klaus Multia and then another three-way with Alan Adrian and Joe Santini which turns into a big orgy of sorts with Danielle thrown into the mix again. It finishes up with a visit from Taija Rae, who Annie is quite understandably very happy to see, and the two girls are then joined by Carol Cross, Bobby Astyr and Joey Silvera for another group session.

Plot-less but amusing in a tacky sort of way, this second film is once again little more than a showcase for the titular leading lady’s abilities but it shows off her skills well and, hey, any time we get more Taija Rae in her prime, we should take it - Taija looks great here. The movie is reasonably well-paced and decently shot. It isn’t as good as the first movie but it’s still worth seeing if you’re a fan of either Little Oral Annie or Taija. The high definition presentation is on par with that of the feature attraction, it looks very good and features lossless 24-bit DTS-HD 2.0 Mono audio and English subtitles.

Up next is an archival video interview with producer and Sarno friend, Dave Copeland, that runs twenty-seven minutes. He speaks about how he got his start in the adult film business working for Arthur Morowitz and Video-X-Pix, following up on the success of the other 'Inside' movies, literally being chained to his desk until he sold a certain amount of tapes, his work in the theatrical distribution side of the business and how the advent of home video took over, having to sell these movies without being allowed to watch them, what it was like working in Manhattan at the time, what he learned from his work experience, his experiences with Joe Sarno and the relationship that developed between the two of them and other details about his time working for the company.

Rounding out the disc is a three minute restoration comparison featurette that compares the new transfer to the older one created for the DVD (there’s a huge difference) as well as a trailer for Little Oral Annie Takes Manhattan, a teaser for Inside Little Oral Annie, a still gallery, menus and chapter selection options.

As to the packaging for this release, it comes with some reversible cover artwork as well as a limited collectible 11x17 Little Oral Annie Poster and a full color twenty-page booklet that contains a nice selection of archival still photos and ephemera related to the two movies.

Inside Little Oral Annie - The Final Word:

Inside Little Oral Annie holds up well as a great showcase for its leading lady and a solid supporting cast. The Blu-ray release from Quality X looks fantastic and it has a nice selection of extras as well, highlighted by the film’s sequel. A great package for fans of vintage adult cinema.
