I was on a call last month and the regulatory lawyer on the other side remarked that obtaining national security clearance in the UK involved no more than filling out an on-line form. If only navigating and risk-assessing this and other new national security regimes applicable to M&A were that easy. Time for M&A players to up their games on awareness of all these new regimes and their nuances. Grateful for all those at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer in the US, Europe, UK and Asia helping us get up the learning curve quickly on these regimes, how they interplay with each other, and what they mean for execution risks and timelines.
