Recipe Variations

This casserole is easily customizable to suit your tastes. Try these variations:

  • Ground turkey can be subbed in for the beef (although it won’t be as flavorful.)
  • Instead of pepperoni, use cooked sausage.
  • Replace the canned mushrooms for fresh ones, sautéed and seasoned.
  • Swap out the green bell pepper with a red one, or use both.
  • Toss in some sliced black olives.
  • Substitute the pizza sauce with a high quality, well flavored spaghetti sauce (and/or add more seasoning.)
  • Try pepper jack cheese instead of mozzarella for an added kick.
  • A different type of short pasta (like rotini) can be used instead of the egg noodles, if you prefer.
